Postgraduate Admission Requirements

The following may qualify for admission into the specified Postgraduate Programmes at Federal University Wukari (FUWukari):

Postgraduate Diploma (PGD)

• Graduate of FUWUKARI or any other recognized University with at least a Third Class Degree in relevant disciplines.
• Holders of the Higher National Diploma (HND) with at least Lower Credit (CGPA of 3.50 on a 5-point scale) in relevant disciplines.
• Holders of other professional qualifications as may be acceptable to the Board of the School of Postgraduate Studies and Senate of the University.
• In special cases, candidates may be admitted after passing prescribed tests/examinations as determined by the Department/School.

Master’s Degree (M.A., M.Sc., MBA, MPA, etc.)

• Holders of a First Degree from FUWUKARI or any recognized University with at least Second Class Honours in relevant subjects.
• Holders of equivalent qualifications from other recognized Universities.
• Candidates with Third Class Honours or HND (Lower Credit – CGPA of 3.50 on a 5-point scale) may be eligible if:
  • They have a relevant Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) with at least Lower Credit (CGPA 3.50 on a 5-point scale), OR
  • They pass a prescribed qualifying examination for admission.

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)

• Holders of a Master’s Degree from FUWUKARI or any recognized University with a minimum CGPA of 3.50 (on a 5-point scale) or 60% and above.
• Candidates with equivalent qualifications from other recognized Universities.

General Admission Requirements

• Credit level passes in at least five (5) departmental relevant subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.
• Where required by the Department/School Postgraduate Committee, candidates may be required to sit for and pass a qualifying examination before or during the programme.

Duration of Programmes

• Postgraduate Diploma (PGD): Full-Time – Minimum of 2 Semesters (12 Calendar Months).
• Master’s Degree (M.A., M.Sc., etc.):
  • Minimum Duration: 3 Semesters (18 Calendar Months).
  • Maximum Duration: 6 Semesters (36 Calendar Months).
• Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.):
  • Minimum Duration: 6 Semesters (36 Calendar Months).
  • Maximum Duration: 10 Semesters (60 Calendar Months).

Fees & Qualifying Examinations

• Application Fee: ₦15,000 (Nigerian applicants) or $100 (International applicants).
• Qualifying Examination Fee: ₦2,500 per applicant (mandatory for PGD, Master’s, and Ph.D. applicants).
• All fees are non-refundable once paid.

Application Procedure

• Visit https://pg.fuwportal.edu.ng and select “Online Application”.
• Fill in your personal data with a valid email address (login details will be sent to this email).
• Select your programme choices (first & second choice) and mode of admission as “Postgraduate Full-Time”.
• Check your email for “FEDERAL UNIVERSITY WUKARI APPLICATION LOGIN DETAILS”.
• Login to the portal with the provided username & password.
• Proceed to “Payment” to pay for the application via Remita (card, bank, USSD, etc.).
• Update your biodata and upload a valid passport photograph.
• Enter your highest educational qualification, post-primary education, subjects, and grades.
• Review all information carefully and submit. (Edits are not possible after submission.)
• Assign referees (with valid emails) and notify them to expect referee forms.
• Upload required documents (PDF/JPEG, within stated size limits).
• Generate Transcript Request Form and forward it to your previous institution.
• Monitor your “Application Status” tab for updates and final admission decision.
• Logout when done.
