The Center for Savannah Zone Studies (CSZS) at the Federal University Wukari has officially announced its International Conference on Sustainable Development in the Savannah Zone, scheduled to hold from 25th to 29th November 2025 at the University campus in Taraba State, Nigeria.

With the theme “Sustainable Development in the Savannah Zone: Innovations, Challenges, and Opportunities,” the conference seeks to bring together scholars, researchers, students, policymakers, and stakeholders from across Nigeria and beyond to discuss cutting-edge research and practical strategies for promoting sustainability within the savannah ecological region.

According to the organizers, the conference will address a wide range of pressing topics including climate change, agriculture, renewable energy, policy, governance, and community participation. Participants are invited to submit abstracts and full papers aligned with sub-themes such as land degradation, biodiversity conservation, food security, and indigenous knowledge systems.

Abstracts should not exceed 300 words and must include the title, author information, affiliations, contact email, and keywords. Full papers are expected to range between 4,000 and 6,000 words and follow the APA 7th Edition referencing format. The deadline for abstract submission is 15th October 2025, while accepted authors will be notified by 25th October 2025. The final submission deadline for full papers is 10th November 2025.

Selected papers from the conference will be published in the CSZS International Journal of Savannah Studies and an edited conference proceedings volume. Registration fees are set at ₦25,000 for Nigerian participants, $100 for international participants, and ₦10,000 for students with valid identification.

The conference not only provides an avenue for scholarly exchange but also aligns with the University’s commitment to fostering research that addresses real-world challenges affecting the savannah regions of Africa.
