The Governing Council of Federal University Wukari has approved the appointment of Professor Benjamin Ate Kefas as the new Vice-Chancellor of the University at its meeting held on 10th February 2026.

Professor Kefas, an accomplished scholar and academic leader with distinguished experience in pharmacology, molecular medicine, and higher education administration, emerges as the 4th substantive Vice-Chancellor of the institution.

His appointment follows a rigorous selection process conducted by the Governing Council in accordance with established university regulations and best practices in university governance.

Professor Kefas brings to the position extensive academic and leadership experience spanning national and international institutions, including Ahmadu Bello University, Vrije Universiteit Brussel (Belgium), the National Institutes of Health, and the University of Virginia.
